Travel Marketing
Travel Marketing is a specific type of marketing that caters specifically to companies who provide trips, hotels, and other services associated with traveling. One of the more common applications of travel marketing are travel agents. A travel agent\’s business is dependent upon his or her ability to portray various types of vacations, hotel packages, etc. as being worth the attached costs. Travel marketing can be geared towards tourism travel, business travel, and other groups who may travel often.
The business of marketing travel destinations can be different, depending on the type of person the company or agent is trying to sell their services to. For example, a travel agent who is trying to convince the parents of a large family to take a summer vacation to Florida, would probably have to sell them on the different theme parks, beaches, swimming pools, and other attractions that families enjoy attending together. On the other hand, an agent who is marketing a trip to Chicago to the head of a large sales company, would more likely portray the economy, jobs, and business attractions to the potential traveler.
Travel Marketing can be a tricky business because hotel prices, airfare, and car rental businesses are constantly changing their prices and terms. What this means for companies who focus on travel marketing, is that they must constantly perform research and studies. The more research a marketer performs, the better chance they will have of making a large profit. The ultimate goal of travel marketing is to portray a specific destination as being a desirable place for a certain group of customers to visit. If a travel marketing company is able to successfully attract large groups of people to a specific destination, then they can consider their business a success.
